Received a scam email today from [email protected] with the title “Successfully Coin Purchase. They want me to call 888-232-8165 to claim refund. This is considered a refund scam.
The way these scam work is by sending you a fraud email stating that you have made a purchase, and if you want to cancel or request a refund, you have to call the number provided.
For example, this is the email I received:
The email is trying to make me think that there was an order made for a purchase of bitcoin in the amount of $349.99. But if I want to cancel or to claim my refund to contact them to resolve on the call. Then provide a “Help Desk Number” 888-232-8165. But they write the number as 888/232/8165. The reason they write the number in a different manner is to avoid junk mail scanners.
If you were to call back this number, most likely it will be someone with a heavy accent, atleast it was when I called, and they will want to access your computer to help you obtain the refund. It’s a refund scam.
