If you have WhatsApp or other messaging apps you might have received messages from strangers. I’ll tell you how I recently received a WhatsApp dating crypto scam and how to recognize them.
The message starts very innocent like and almost trows you off guard. You receive a message saying “Hello Mike (or other name), I lost my phone and got a new one”.
That’s how the conversation starts or something like that. Obviously you are not Mike. But the profile picture is of a pretty girl, and a harmless conversation starts. It gets a little flirty, and start small talk. Then it’s you seem like a nice person and we can talk more….
Getting into the Crypto Scam
After a few days she mentions how she does crypto and makes really good money. Even sends you screenshots of very profitable trades. Sometimes it’s of a few thousand dollars and sometimes of alot!
The talk of Crypto continues and she mentions how she can teach you how to trade.
You’ve had some nice chats, and might even think the person is somewhat of a person you like chatting with and could chat more in person one day. You are also a little interested in the crypto profits, mostly because you have heard of others doing the same, you just had not met someone who was actually doing it.
The Whatsapp conversations continue and she might even send you some pictures of herself in nice places, or with nice cars. It’s all designed to get you physically attracted and interested in crypto trading.
She even talks about meeting up in person because you can both make really good profits from crypto trading.
Somewhere along in the conversation she might tell you to trade cryptocurrencies with her and how she can help you make profits too. She asks how much you would invest; they want to know how much you are willing to put in, and because she seems somewhat of an elegant person, you will be motivated to show off with money. They want you to invest more than you can afford to loose, and loose it you will if you continue!
She then send you a link to create an account with her crypto platform so she can help you trade and make big profits. The link is the trick, it’s the scam, it’s how they steal your money.
The Whatsapp Dating Scam Person
The person I spoke with called herself Isabella, +44 7557 735818. She said she was Chinese and was now living in the UK. She had travelled and even visited the US before.
The link she sent me was to https://www.wirexs.vip/download – The website Wirexs.vip is not even on google or other search engines. That is because it’s a script that they can take down and upload to another domain name in minutes. Real trading app or crypto apps will be registered and easily found doing a google search.
This scam website is designed to give the impression of a real website, a real crypto trading platform which you can invest money and gain large profits from crypto trading. It’s a scam, it’s not a real trading app or crypto app. If you create an account, open the app, download the app or transfer funds; you got scammed. You got robbed.
Here are several other numbers used by Isabella, the Whatsapp Crypto Dating Scammer.
As you tell this scammer used several different numbers during the course of our communications. Every time very focussed on getting me to download the crypto trading platform from the scam website she sent. All so we can work together and have a better relationship in the future.
How to Protect yourself from these Whatsapp Dating Scams
The best way to avoid these messaging app dating scams and crypto scams to ignore them completely. This way they don’t bother messaging you again.
Don’t ever download an app or click on links given to you by people you don’t know or never really met. Many links can be software designed to penetrate security software and steal information or identity.
There are many people who are lonely, and these whatsapp dating scams create a sense of energy, of delight. That’s what they are designed to do, and take your money too. It’s unfortunate that they prey on people who are lonely, elderly and many time steal more money than the person can afford to loose.
Stay away from these scams and frauds. No, you will not make unreal amounts of money trading crypto currencies. If it was real, big sharks would have jumped all over it. No a pretty girl from the UK or other country does not really make unreal money and is not coming to meet you once you make money with her trading cryptos. It’s a scam, it’s fraud. Stay away! Ignore messages on messaging apps from people you don’t know.
